Shipping rates or costs consist of two key components:
1) Actual weight of the product and
2) Volumetric weight of the product
The value of a shipment can be affected by the amount of space it occupies during distribution, rather than the actual weight, which is known as volumetric (or dimensional) weight.
The volumetric or dimensional weight is the dimension of the package calculated from the length, width and height of the shipment and compared with the actual weight of the shipment to ascertain which is greater; the higher weight is used to calculate the shipment cost.
Calculation of volumetric weight is as follows:
For Air Express & Air Cargo:
Example: If the actual weight of a package is saying: 10 Kilogram and the dimensions of the package /shipment are saying: 100 cm Length, 50 cm Width, and 40 cm Height, then the calculations shall be as follows Length x Width x Height divided by 5000
100 x 50 x 40 = 200000 / 5000, the answer is 40 Kilogram, and you will be charged for 40 Kilogram: for better understanding, you may use the dimensional calculator
1. Maximum physical weight per piece must not exceed 70 Kilograms OR 150 pounds (Domestic Express shipments)
2. Maximum physical weight per piece must not exceed 30 Kilogram OR 70 pounds for International Express shipments
3. Dimension for International Express shipments shall be maximum 70 x 32 x 16 inches per package
